Living in Texas for most of my life, Fall is typically just a cooler extension of the summer with very little changes in the color of foliage. When we knew we were moving to Boston this summer, we were excited to finally experience a proper New England Fall. We took the time to rent a car and head out to New Hampshire to experience it for ourselves.
In our research to find a good spot to visit, West Rattlesnake Mountain popped up a few times as an easy hike with a scenic viewpoint at the end. Only a two hour drive from our home in Boston, it was a great option for a quick foray into nature.
The hike itself only take 25 minutes to get to the view point, but we took our time to take in the surroundings and capture some photos and video. There were a lot of families with young children since it wasn't tough at all. It was a nice change from the concrete jungle we'd been surrounded by for the past few months.
At the end of the hike, you're spoiled by an amazing view of Squam Lake. Small islands dot the lake and orange, yellow, and red trees surround you. We spent a good amount of time just taking in the view and I also had a chance to send my drone up.
I hadn't flown my drone in a few months so it was a great time to just capture some aerial photo and video of the beautiful landscapes.
After our morning hike, we also took time to drive through the Kancamagus Highway. The highway bisects the White Mountain National Forest and offers some great scenic stops and also hikes along the way. We're looking forward to exploring more of New England in the coming months!
