Longhorn Medal Count 18Aug08 | 0

If UT was a country, we’d be tied for 15th in the medal count with Canada. 8 Golds and 1 Silver so far with our divers and track athletes still to compete. Hook ‘em!

Fantasy Football Keepers 29Jul08 | 0

Last year I played in my first keeper league for fantasy football.  I lost in the finals to Phil Kwang.  This year it’s time to reload and I think I got a pretty good set of players to keep.  We can keep up to 4 players, so I listed them out with the round that I drafted them in last year.

1. Frank Gore

4. Clinton Portis

5. Andre Johnson

6. Tony Romo

Nike+ Idea 01Jul08 | 0

I just thought of a random idea for a new iPhone Nike+ application. Without adding any existing hardware, they can make a Nike+ Ride application for Bicyclists. When you run the application, it would track your distance and speed via GPS data over time and graph it just like Nike+ Run. Get on this Nike.

Rookie of the Year 30Apr08 | 0

Congrats to Kevin Durant for winning rookie of the year honors. I really hope the Sonics stay in Seattle. Seattle > Oklahoma City any day.

VY vs. Texans 08Dec06 | 0

Texas-OU-1

I’ve been reading a lot of forums this week about the dilemma that Houston Texans fans are going through. Cheer for the Texans who’ve disappointed them these past few years or cheer for the greatest modern athlete to come out of Houston, VY. I find it all pretty hilarious. I can’t wait to see Reliant stadium filled with burnt orange this Sunday and to hear the crowd erupt when VY scores a TD. Hook ‘em VY.

We’re going for another IM championship this year. Our Co-ed team, The Mighty Fightin’ Sandcrabs, got bumped up to the A/B playoffs this year. Yesterday we won our first playoff game. Our next game is our Thursday at 6 PM against a pretty tough team.

I’m also playing on a Men’s team, Blazing Saddles. We played yesterday too and ended up winning. Men’s is always a bit tougher once you get deeper into the playoffs because then I’m guarding like 6′4 guys with 42 inch verticals.

Fantasy Basketball 26Oct06 | 0

I had my first fantasy basketball draft last night. Took a while to finish but I think my team came out alright. But then again I wouldn’t know since I’ve never played before. I made a little Brady Bunch team picture for posterity.

In other fantasy news, my football team is doing pretty well. I’m currently 5-2 in 3rd place in my league. Man what have I gotten myself into?

Nike+ 19Jul06 | 0

Since I already had a Nano, I decided to purchase the Nike+iPod package and start running. I haven’t run this often since maybe Middle School when Athletics made us run 3 miles every other day. I usually run at around 9 PM so it’s not too hot. There’s actually a lot of other people that run/walk/exercise around my neighborhood. Van and I decided to challenge each other through the Nike+ website on who could run the most distance in a month. So far he’s ahead by 2 miles. I have to give it to Nike and Apple, they’ve made a product that actually makes me want to get up and run, something that I’ve hated for most of my life.

Silly Aggies 26Jun06 | 0

Bruce Feldman of ESPN.com wrote an entry on his blog about the top College football stadiums that he’s been to. He got a response from an Aggie….

“From Jared in Salt Lake City: How can Texas be the best football state without having at least one stadium in the top 10?? Have you ever been to a game at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, home of the Fightin’ Texas Aggies??? My guess is no.”

Bruce Feldman’s Response:

“Actually Jared, you shouldn’t be guessing at all. Why? Because I SAID THAT I HADN’T BEEN TO KYLE RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THAT ENTRY!! This happens far too often where people gripe about something that has already been explained. Often times I’ll read the comments taking issue with something I wrote and usually good points are made and it gives me pause. But every once in a while, I get one like this. I mean you’re probably right Kyle may be one of the 10 best stadiums in college football, but I said I am only judging by where I actually have been.”

Silly Aggie.

Round Rock Express 20Jun06 | 0

A group of us went out to the Round Rock Express game last night to watch Oliver throw out the first pitch. It was a perfect evening, the weather was great. They had $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas which just added to the fun. I ended up eating 3 hot dogs, a soda, and a funnel cake. The funnel cake had a ton of powdered sugar that ended up all over me and some on my camera :O. More pics on my flickr, click on the picture to go to them.
