Anna asked me to be the unofficial photographer for her wedding so I managed to snap some 200+ photos. It was an outdoor California wedding overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The view would have been more spectacular if not for the Gap Fire smoke that’s been filling SoCal. Still turned out to be a beautiful ceremony. Congrats to Thomas and Anna.

What other city can you go to a free outdoor symphony while sitting on a picnic blanket and eat P.Terry’s burgers and fries?

Went out to play some hockey today with ACC people. We ended up playing for a good 2 hours which turned out to be a lot of fun. After a short nap, I’ve been spending the rest of the night watching the Stars vs. Sharks in Game 6. Right now we’re waiting for OT to start.

I keep a pretty close eye on my website and flickr stats. Yesterday there was a pretty crazy jump in views on my flickr. It will probably come crashing down today.

I’ve been using CapMetro’s Park & Ride at Tech Ridge for about 2 years now. I’ve probably saved a couple thousand miles on my car and a hundreds of gallons of gas. One development that I’ve been pretty excited about is the new light rail that’s being deployed in Austin this Fall. One of the stops up north is about a mile away from my house which opens up new possibilities for me to commute into work. I’ve actually been thinking about getting a bike so I can bike to the Howard station, then take the light rail into the MLK station, and take the express bus into campus. The great thing about light rail is that the commute time isn’t contingent on traffic like the bus that I ride to work. Also they’re planning on having wifi on every Light Rail. Yvonne and I had been wanting to go to this concert in Austin, but we weren’t able to score tickets for it. I remembered today that we’re both heading up to Chicago to visit my sister so I decided to see if by chance, Kanye was performing up there the same weekend. Lo and behold he’s playing 2 shows that weekend at the United Center! So this afternoon I scored two tickets on eBay to go watch Kanye and Lupe on Friday, May 23rd.

I have been traveling a lot recently. In the past month I’ve been to Colorado and Dallas. In the next few months I’ll be in Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Jose/San Francisco. I’m finally making use of some of the vacation time I’ve accrued these past few years of working.

Yvonne and I got to try out a French restaurant called Chez Nous that had been getting some great reviews on Yelp. I’d say the reviews were right on because everything that we had was excellent. We chose to get the 3 course meal for $25, which was well worth the price. If you’re ever in need of some good French food in Austin, make sure to check out Chez Nous.

This weekend was my first time snow boarding so here are some observations that I had of my experience.

- I picked up snow boarding a lot faster than I did skiing
- Because of that, I think snow boarding is more fun
- Copper Mountain is the best ski resort I’ve been to thus far
- I need to rent/buy a helmet next time so I can board faster without worrying
- Going off peak season was the best idea ever
- Driving to Colorado isn’t too bad as long as you play Big 2
- iPhone is nice to have on long trips

So my webhost, iPower Web, decided to make their MySQL server slow as hell yesterday and into today. I spent a good part of yesterday and today trying to figure out exactly what was wrong, only to realize it was all on their end. In the process of troubleshooting, I lost some of the stuff I had been working on so I’ll try to get some of the archives back up asap. As for now, I’m just happy this thing works like it should.
